About the event
Veterans and Veteran Organizations across this nation have come together to form a Veteran Coalition headed by retired Marine, Activist, and Co-star of the FOX show American Grit and we are asking you to join us. On August 28th, the Reverend Al Sharpton and Martin Luther King III will be leading this year’s annual March On Washington. This years March has been named “The Commitment March” to honor Martin Luther King Jr’s original March On Washington and to further demonstrate our commitment as a people to continue the fight for policing and criminal justice in this country.
We are reaching out to you today to ask that you STAND beside us to march in solidarity and in remembrance of those victims who’ve had their lives taken away much too soon. We have all seen the daily headlines and have watched the civil unrest resulting from the murders of victims like Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Elijah McClain, Freddie Gray, Tamir Rice, Philando Castile, Eric Logan, Alton Sterling, Laquan McDonald, and Eric Garner just to name a few..
This March not only symbolizes solidarity but it echos the call from all around this nation to end police brutality, racial discrimination, and other injustices that continue to plague marginalize communities of color; communities that many of us serving this great nation belong to.
On August 28th, the 57th anniversary of the very first March on Washington, we ask that you join Marine Veteran and "Veterans For Kaepernick" creator (Retired) Gunnery Sergeant Tee Marie Hanible, and 100’s of veterans from all across this country as we March against the continued racial injustices and discrimination that has only served to beget more hate and divisiveness in this country....
The Time Is Now!!
March With Us!!
Veterans, Service Members, and Supporters:
I challenge each one of you to reach out to those in your organization, communities, and social media platforms and encourage them to join us on this pivotal day to make our voices heard collectively. We HAVE to stop the hate, and in order to continue to be the agents of change, we must let our voices heard and amplify the voices of others. As Leaders, it is our responsibility to protect the rights of every citizen in this Country, regardless of skin color. We can no longer sit still and remain silent in the wake of injustice!
