We have a wide variety of needs with regards to the medical team. There are basic requirements for being able to treat patients, however, even those without medical experience can be of great assistance to the team. The primary function of the medical team is basic first-aid. We are not authorized the same level of autonomy we had when we were on active duty, as such, our scope of practice is much more narrow. Our primary function is to treat minor injuries, heat casualties, assisting patients that have been gassed during protests, and providing CPR, if needed. The most important thing to remember with street medicine is that it is the job of the medic to stabilize, package, and transport the patient to the next highest echelon of care. For those without medical experience, you can still assist by providing logistical support, manage supplies, and help with comms. Currently we partner with Medics for Justice (M4J) for most events. If you are interested in providing medical support, we will help you affiliate with M4J. We, of course, can coordinate so that you are still with CTS during events, but you'll also have other opportunities to provide support for various other events that M4J might be participating in.
